Beef and Potato Curry

  • Beef
  • Ginger Paste 1 tbsp
  • Garlic Paste 1 tsp
  • Onion Sliced 2 cups
  • Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin Powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon Sticks 3-4 Pieces
  • Cardamon 4-6 Pieces
  • Cloves 4-6 Pieces
  • Bay Leaf 2-3 Pieces
  • Tomato Paste 1 Cup
  • Canola Oil 1 Cup
  • Salt to taste
  • 4-6 Potato – Peeled, Cubed & Washed
  • Green Chillies 4-6

Heat a deep stew pot. Add the onion slices in hot oil + add the whole spices – Cook until the onions are translucent. Add all the powder spices and Ginger and Garlic Paste. Cook until the raw smell of the ginger and garlic paste evaporates. Add the tomato paste and salt. Mix everything and cook until oil separates from the onion and spice mixture.

Cut meat into small pieces, washes thoroughly and drain out water. Add meat into the prepared spices and mix all the meat and spices – cover all the meat with the spice mixture. Cover and cook over medium to high heat. The meat will release it’s own water but I add additional water. I am going to add the potatoes and cook once the meat is almost cooked. Then add 4 cups water and keep on low heat with cover for 1 hour. Meats becomes well-cooked with thick gravy.

Serve hot with plain rice, paratha or Naan.
